This thread is going to need to be changed soon, to dying with hiv. I was informed last week by my case worker that North Carolina ADAP is not accepting any new clients. Also, if you let your account lapse, you won't be able to get your medicine either. Later, I got a letter in the mail from NC ADAP that said only tier 1 anti HIV medications will be covered due to cut backs. Long story short, I am getting a letter off to Governor Bev Perdue today, and recommending the same for my family and friends, and any of you that may be affected.

This seems to be more the norm these days. My state of Utah is in the same situation as are many others. Unfortunately, HIVers aren't the only ones being hung out to dry. Thousands of Americans who depend on government medical assistance are being cut from various programs and left without vital medical care. As billions of tax dollars are be squandered elsewhere, people are in fact dying. I'm not necessarily an advocate of socialized medicine, but affordable health care is a must. We should all become advocates where we see a need. Contact your state and federal representatives and share your views, what ever they may be.

In the meantime, here is information some might find helpful:

I used the email link (I previously posted) to the Governor of NC and NC Dept of Health and Human Services Secretary, and State Representative etc. The appalling response I got back was carbon copied replies from all! All they all said is, the state is so strapped, that it can't be afforded but for those already on it, and they are looking for money to afford that.

Bottom line, People are dying on a waiting list, and I don't know what I by myself can do, and that is really not a question.

I thought NC was known for healthcare, ie: Research Triangle Park for one, and I hope healthcare/medical businesses/companies considering locating to NC take this into consideration when making their decisions.
