My doctor said with new the new meds like Atripla you won't have problems like that... Things like that happened with the old medications like AZT

I hear it is a possible long term affect of the drug. Possible being the operative word..

Lipo-whatever, seems to affect people randomly. A guy in my Old Geezers with AIDS Group has lipo-whatever of the face which makes him very self-concious about going out in public. Unfortunately, Medicare doesn't pay for the injections to correct the problem.
I have some lipo-whatever, but I sort of like the effect for now. The main problem is the loss of the fat pad at the temples which gives you the skeleton look. For me, so far I don't have that problem.
Other people get Chipmunk Cheeks or Apple Cheeks which distorts you face at the jaw line giving you a pear shaped face. While others accumulate fat around the belly and at the neck line. Other people, like me, lose fat in the arms and legs giving you stick like appendages.
Time infected seems to be the main determinant in getting this condition, which may be a factor of the meds or the virus.
Good luck.

I asked my doctor about this. He said he feels the answer is yes--good diet and regular exercise can really help how your body processes the drug and how your fat is stored/burned. I don't know personally--but I expressed the same concern and my doctor seemed pretty convinced that diet and exercise can help. Of course, not for every single person....but he sounded pretty optimistic about it.
