Does anyone know what the max you can make if you collect SS disability? Is there a length of time that you can work.

I believe you can't make more per month than your benefit. However, the reality is that Social Security only cares if you are doing productive work. For instance, getting free rent in return for managing an apartment building is probably not productive work. So it seems that bartering is not productive work. I think you see my point.

I do, luckily I have a friend who owns a business. I go into to help him when he needs help and I get paid off the books. That is even better. :-)

You need to ask him how he records your pay on his books or in his check register. If he gets audited by the IRS, you could have trouble, maybe. The IRS could open a new case on you for collection of back taxes, which could cause you some trouble.

If he pays you in cash and does not record the payment on his books, the problem stops with him and you are safe. He would have a problem as the IRS checks inflow against outflow;, but, since the outflow of cash to you is unrecorded he would have a tax problem but not you. Do not tell him your Social Security number or your address and you are probably safe as can be.

I worked on the other side for years and no most of the tricks.

Ex-auditor,

I tell him nothing. He also has a lot of illegal people working for him so he knows how to work it!

Hey Frannie,
I am zipping around on the net and doing very little work this holiday weekend. It was nice to notice a name handle I recognized from 3 years back. Hope you are truly doing well.
