breathing problems
      #243056 - 11/06/08 10:02 PM

I was wondering if anyone out there is having this particular problem that I am having:

I cannot seem to get in enough air. If feels as though something is not allowing me to take in a full exchange of air. I am on Sustiva and Epzicom, my numbers are great and am undetectable and I will be seeing my MD in a few weeks. I am taking albuterol puffs as needed but this only helps for a very short while. I also check my O2 level frequently when these "attacks" happen and it is usually around 98%. I know that the med combo I take has caused cardiac problems in some patients.....anyone have input???

Thanks.

Have experienced the same problem before along with terrible whizzing and my doctor prescribed beclazone 200mcg cfc free inhaler. No more grasping for air it's working great. But just don't know if the inhaler is available in the US.

You are right,Ziagen can cause difficulty breathing, get yourself to your Dr right away.It is possible to have this problem even after being on the drug for a while with no problems. As a general rule anytime you have trouble breathing you should call/see your Dr as soon as possible.
Take care
Terry

I am not familiar with ziagin but I would say make sure you ask your doctor. I have noticed that I have that problem once in a while like as if I need just one good breath I try to yawn to get it and it does not work. I notice it happens when I am going through a panic phase.

Fran,

I know this comment is not on point, but as to your panic, has your doctor prescribed Seroquel for it? It is a chemical rather than a narcotic tranquilizer, that in the right dose allows you to correctly process input thus alleviating panic, anxiety, etc. However, you are not drugged to sleep.

Good stuff. Mood altering drugs work differently for different people; your experience with Seroquel could be quite different from mine.

Cheers,

ScotCharles

SC
My doctor is actually a pain in the butt and I am looking into changing. Hse wants everything to be about warm milk and stuff.
Anyway, I started seeing a therapist who has set me up with a pschiatrist that I will see on the 26th. I am sure they will do something. My therapist thinks it is depression and anxiety that I have and is not sure if it is due to the sustiva.

Thanks to all who replied. I am on an albuterol inhaler but it only helps for a short while...sometimes not at all. It seems I am slowly getting some relief from this "episode", everyday I seem to improve. But thankfully, I will be seeing my MD soon.
