Survey-Viral Load Testing
      #239120 - 05/07/08 03:57 PM

We are a medical communications firm looking to gain perspective from HIV patients on a variety of issues. If interested, please take a few minutes to complete our survey (link below.) For the first 25 responses, we will make a donation to an HIV Clinic in our area.

Thank you in advance for your time!

How much is the donation for? I think I would be better off making the donation and not playing with your monkey.

I'm with you Florida. Its like this site is a magnet for lab rats. We are people with HIV..we want to talk with each other..we don't want to keep being bugged by survey monkeys for causes that support you. Give us a break. Go solicit somewhere else.

Survey Addict! new
      #239192 - 05/10/08 03:44 AM

Hey all!

Yes, I'm a silly bugger who takes these silly surveys just to find out what they are looking for. Then I let you all know that you were right in your comments about them. On the one hand I think maybe such things should be reported to the site administrator and removed from the site; on the other hand, I almost get a laugh out of doing them so it would be a pity if they disappeared totally....

What gets my goat about these surveys is that you either have to answer "yes" or "no", the survey writer hardly ever offers us a "maybe" option. In this case, I had to rate the credibility of information sources (my doctor, the internet, peers, community groups and other publications) and I didn't want to rate them because I don't have a clear criteria for rating credibility. I mean, some things I believe because I have gone through them in my own flesh, other things I doubt just because they are repeated in so many different areas of information sharing. When I wrote that opinion in the little box, the survey came back telling me that I was required to rate the credibility of these sources no matter what.

En fin, these things always seem to have been written by starry-eyed grad-students looking for statistics to pad their end of semester term papers. I am a little shocked and dismayed that college professors or even businessmen would base their evaluations on surveys done up in a survey motor with a name like "monkey"....that just makes monkeys out of all of us. Even though I take these surveys out of curiosity, I agree with others here that we are not lab-rats and should not be considered such just because we have chosen to create our own community on the internet. Get thee to an HIV clinic and try getting this information through human contact, it's hard work, but getting your degree should be just that. Getting information that is reliable for us is also hard work, but we are the ones who do the work and are most willing to share it among others who are, like us, really working at it.

We should get together and come up with a survey that the survey writers need to take before they can do a survey.

Something like question
1. Do you feel you are waisting our time.

2. Is this survey going to create real change and be a benefit to our society as a whole?

You know questions like that so they can start to really think about who they are bothering and/or entertaining. Some of them are quite comical.

Hey all!

Thanks guys and gals for your comments. That last one about creating a survey for these survey fiends has sure piqued my interest. I might just give it a try! If so, I'll let you all know so you can contribute and critique, just in case I leave anything out!
