I am on about day 45 of this regimen, my first. Reached undetectable under 30 days, will see doc again on September 7, 6 days away. I have to do labs prior to going, and I gave in to temptation and had two glasses of wine the past three days.
The first night, it was two hours after taking the viramune / truvada. The next day, it was in the afternoon. No problems other than a little stomach upset. However today, another afternoon drinking session that kind of overlapped with my 6pm dosing time for the Truvada / Viramune. I ate shortly afterwards, but, felt weird for the rest of the night and even as I write this at almost 11pm.
I think I will be skipping alcohol for a while, but my biggest concern: Have I increased my risk of resistence or the the efficacy of the medicine.
I didn't miss anything while I wasn't drinking at all in the beginning 44 or so days of this new HAART adventure. Back to NO BOOZE for me. A little 420 maybe, but only a little as needed. Appetite a huge problem sometimes for me, and this nausea from the wine has been fixed or overpowered by the thc.
I wonder how some who do hard drugs such as meth do on these meds. Must be very harsh on teh body.... I won't touch the crap ever again .. if it were not for meth, I would not be HIV + because I would have never engaged in the risky behavior that I did.

Heavy drugs are hard on the body, sm0ke all the 420 ya need to, to keep your appetite up and your stress levels down.....heavy drinking also is hard on the liver, (which your HIV meds are already overworking your liver), but more importantly...its leads to dependancy , which leads to non adherence, impaired judgement, and what not.....nota good place to be with HIV*.....Good Luck & God Bless*

Although it normally passes with time and only affects a minority of people, intolerance to alcohol is a well established side-effect of the tenofovir in your Truvada - so avoidance could be a good plan for the next few months.
Providing that you did not vomit, no real damage will have been done and drugs should still have reached therapeutic levels.
On a more general note, the first few months on almost any anti-HIV regimen can be quite hard on the liver and kidneys, so avoiding alcohol during this time is no bad thing.
