Inspiring documentary about AIDS
      #225411 - 03/02/07 01:03 AM

I co-wrote and co-producted this documentary about two men, surviving HIV for twenty years - and the 20th anniversary of an inspiring AIDS fundraiser, and I'm very excited to be able to share this documentary with people in the LA-area at an upcoming FREE screening. Read on...

US Premiere of AIDS Documentary at Free Hollywood Video Festival

The video documentary DecAIDS: Anything is Possible makes its US premiere as an official selection of the upcoming Hollywood Digital Video Festival, March 26 to April 1, 2007, at Hollywood's Fairfax Cinema Theatre.

DecAIDS: Anything is Possible is an uplifting HD video documentary offering up one community's solution for hope in the global fight against AIDS. Each year, over 1,000 volunteers, including members of the fashion community itself, prepare for Canada's largest single-day AIDS fundraiser, Fashion Cares. For twenty years, MAC Cosmetics executive Phillip Ing has produced this fashion show extravaganza, bringing global talent to its Toronto stage. An entire generation of performers, models, designers, make-up artists and hairstylists have looked to Ing for his creative vision as the show’s Artistic Director. In this, his final year, Ing reflects on the event's contribution towards the cause while simultaneously giving voice to its critics.

"A deeply personal behind-the-scenes look at the history of Fashion Cares"
- Jim Bawden, Starweek

The behind-the-scenes Fashion Cares drama unfolds as two individuals, HIV-positive for two decades, prepare to attend the event which has directly touched their own lives in deeply personal ways. David Klein, who is the last survivor of a large group of gay friends, looks forward to attending the event for which he volunteered for many years, until it got too big and complicated. Juno-award winning singer Billy Newton-Davis, who performed on stage at Fashion Cares in 1991 with The Nylons, personifies the hopeful spirit that Fashion Cares itself embodies. DecAIDS reveals the first Fashion Cares dress from 1987 - a rubber creation by Dsquared2's superstar designers, Dean and Dan; captures Emmy award-winning choreographer David Connelly planning the dance routines for Fashion Cares; Fashion Television's Jeanne Becker's moving introduction of the show's artistic director Phillip Ing; a bold musical performance by Jody Watley; and moving insights from people touched by the Fashion Cares event during its two-decade history.

Independently produced for Global Television's Global Currents documentary series, broadcast nationally in Canada, DecAIDS makes its US premiere as an official selection of the Hollywood DV Festival.
