Is tiredness a symptom - thanks
      #224009 - 02/01/07 06:55 PM

Thanks to all who replied - next quarterly visit to the doctor and I will definitely bring it up with him.

I don't think its depression, I believe that there is good news and bad news in most events and I prefer to concentrate on the good news. EG: The bad news is that I got it, the good news is that I enjoyed myself at the time and I remember both girls and what happened, it was GOOD. (should be a 'tongue out' icon here but it won't post).

At this stage I'm guessing anemia - the amount of blood they take every three months, I got to be short of blood. The clinic that I go to is called the ID Clinic (Infectious Diseases), I told the doctor that it should be renamed to V Clinic = the Vampire Clinic (should be a big smiley icon here, again it won't post)

Good show you. Your doctor has only a few minutes with you and will make the diagnosis that is the most probable, not necessarily the correct one. Question why he is making the diagnosis he is making, ask him what factors lead him to that conclusion and the alternative diagnoses he has considered. Most importantly ask him what the treatment options are and why he has chosen the one he has and what factors mitigate against that course of treatment in your case.

It is your body and your doctor is not god.

Cheers,

Thanks Scott. Actually, my doctor has more than a few minutes. Here, in Melbourne Victoria Australia, there are many HIV/AIDS specialists. According to my information the Alfred Hospital ID Unit (where I go) is the best in Melbourne.

Anyway, I am not too bothered. As I said - good news and bad news - the bad news is that I got it, the good news is that I got it at 64 where it is only an inconvenience, I didn't get it at 24 when it would have been a life sentence.

Ah yes, the National Health, such personal service. I have forgotten how polite and caring the NHS doctors and nurses were to me, since I have emigrated to the US. With my insurance in the US, I can chuck 'em if they don't give me the service I want and find another. But I am lucky, a lot of folk in the US have to make do with HMO doctors or charity hospitals, those places make the NHS seem a paradise.

Unless you intend to die today, my boy, HIV is a life sentence if you're 64 or 14.

Cheers,
