About a year ago I had a fling with a guy. We did oral sex w/o coming. And I also topped him, w a condom. After he left, I discovered a little red flare on my tongue. A week later I developed a dry cough that wouldn't go away for a month. (But I had no fever, etc, I just felt normal). So I forgot about it....until about 3 months now. My weight suddenly dropped 15 lbs. I didn't feel stress, anxiety. I tried to eat more, but I couldn't gain back my normal weight for this past months. And I always feel burning sensation on my feet and arms. Still I have no fever.... then yesterday my lymph node appeared to be swollen. It is about a pea-size, swollen at my neck (just one node). So I am very scared...and scared to get tested. Anyone with similar experience?
I am now thinking about finding a good doctor. I am living in Thailand. It seems very hard to locate an hiv specialist here. Does anyone happens to live here and can direct me to the best doctors? Thank you so so very much!

Most of the major hospitals in Bangkok have HIV specialists. Bamrungrad (+66 2 667 1000) has two: Dr. Anuwat and Dr. Mondej. Dr. Anuwat has the better bedside manner, but Dr. Mondej probably has more experience. A standard antibody test will take 1-2 days and will cost next to nothing.
The only downside to testing in Bangkok is that you won't receive counselling before / after your results are delivered, so if the results are positive you're likely to be greeted with austere silence. That's simply the culture here, so bring a friend along for support and remember that things are never as bad as they first seem.
I wish you all the best.

One addition to my earlier post: don't delay getting this test done. Your symptoms may have nothing to do with HIV (the fact that you wore a condom and engaged in oral sex) suggests that the chances are remote. But if it is HIV, your chances of long-term survival are greatly enhanced by detecting it early and proactively monitoring your health. Don't hope the symptoms will just go away, as they may, leaving the underlying condition left untreated.

Hi There, thanks so much for your suggestion. May I ask - are you living in Thailand? Can you let me know of your experience? How do you cope with it living here where there is not much support mentally... Thanks again for being here.
