Hi Bro, I imagine ou mean Hep-C is that correct? You will find that many people probably didnt understand your Q when written like that and so I thought I would answer ya quickly to show ya how I normally see it posted--written or what-have-you Ok? So welcome to the site, I havent been here long altho I have lurked about for a minute thru the years and yes BTW I do have both diseases lucky me huh? I havent started the tratment for the Hep-C yet so I cant say much about it altho I will start soon and so I hope ya get more people to talk to on this topic so it will benefit us all! U may or may not also want to include your state sometimes or even a specific area in the state if your lookin to meet people close to you or lookin for treatment close to where ya live but by now you know what I mean right? lol Have a good one and thanx for posting!!
Pete

Pete, Hey man! Yes I have been coming back everyday in hopes of meeting someone who is co-infected. Yes, with Hep-C. I like yourself have not started tx (treatment) either, but today I did get my liver biopsy done and I have my follow up appt on Nov. 2. I live in South Florida, and am scanning the web for groups to connect with online to keep informed. Let me know if I can assist with any info you may have. BTW I do recommend that you check out a web site that I found called www.medhelp.org. click on of course the hepatitus link. You will find a wealth of info from people already on TX, and most of them are NOT coinfected, but they are so cool and so readily available to share their experiences on how to handle sx (side effects). Pete, thanks for responding and let's keep in touch. I haven't started tx either yet but will be soon. Take care and hope to hear from you soon.......R

Ameriboi. just picked up the email .. Don't see much action on the subject. I know there are way too many guys with coinfection. My doctor tells me so..I was treated two years ago with Pegalated Interferon and Riboviren. (aka Pegasys) forgive the spelling. This treatment for 9 months was discontinued after tests revealed no improvement following a 3rd month bump. The strain of HCV, and there appearto be at least 11 strains, will determine the possibilities for cure or imporvement. I have strain 1b. My doctor is now treating me with INterferon Alpha, aka Infergen. he says he has has had good results in other patients. Treatment involves 3 subcuteneous self-injections a week at bedtime for a year. Its relatively painless, just a bit inconvenient. The side effects for the 1st treatment were temporary flu-like symptoms and dramatic mood swings. I have had only minor side affects withthis 2nd regimine so far (I'm in 2nd week of treatment). My liver is in advanced stages of this disease (3 1/2 on scale of 1-4) . The hope is for a total cure or major improvement. I am told the liver can recover from serious damage over time. Also..I was puzzled by my fromer doctor's questions over the past 10 years if I had ever used needles..(I never did use needles or any of the associated drugs but am pretty sure I had unprotected sex with guys who did.) He evidently had a suspicion that there was something amiss but offered no explanationat the time.
