Yesterday was one of the worst I have had since being diagnosed three years ago. All summer, I have been struggling with muscle pain and fatigue. Doc has concluded that it is caused by AZT, so we are switching that out.
I changed meds a month ago to drop Kaletra, as I also had diarrhea for the last 3 years. Diarrhea is gone!
But I found out that the mail order pharmacy had neglected to send one of my meds, so I have been omitting the protease inhibitor for a month. GOod chance of treatment failure. Second time. I am very bummed.
Muscles still ache (I know, this will get better). Can't sleep because of anxiety.
Called a friend who was appropriately concerned....
I feel like I have held in lots of anxiety about HIV for the last three years. Now, it is all coming out. I feel like I am on a slippery slope...crashing and burning.

Wait a minute! Before you crash and burn, grab hold to the lifesavers you have on the sides of the slope. You mentioned that you have at least one friend who is concerned -- USE HIM/HER! You mentioned that you had a doc that has helped you -- USE HIM! You have a negligent pharmacy; they owe you, so -- USE THEM! There are very knowledgeable and supportive people on this site -- USE US!!!
Don't go down without a fight. Hang on to whatever resources you can find to help slow you down and pull you up. Who knows, you just might find that things are not as bad as they may seem. Your slippery slope just might be a speed bump.
Best of luck to you, and please keep us posted! -Gary

By not using one med in a regimen you are presenting the virus with a weakened defense, increasing its ability to become resistant to the others (according to my very knowledgeable Doc), so it's best to stop all the meds until the missing one arrives.
BUT going without meds for a month is unacceptable, and can be easily corrected by using a different pharmacy, or telling your current one that you may have to pursue legal avenues until they can get the med to you for any decrease in your health.
Pharmacies are everywhere, and to keep your business should be much more responsive. Don't put your health at risk by staying with a bad pharmacy (I've been through four to find a good one)!
