I LIKE TO KNOW OF PLACES OR SOCIAL GATHERINGS IN NEW YORK WHERE YOU CAN MEET OTHER PEOPLE WHO ARE LIVING WITH HIV. ALSO LOCATION OF SUPPORT GROUPS IN NY THAT ONE CAN ATTEND OR PARTICIPATE IN WITHOUT HAVING TO GO THROUGH THE LONG PROCESS OF REGISTRATION OR LISTENING TO RECORDINGS IN THE TELEPHONE.

You didn't mention whether you were male or female, gay or straight. There are many places to meet, and for support groups. Try the Lesbian and Gay Community Center, Body Positive, GMHC, pick up a copy of BP or POZ magazines, and keep your eyes open. There are lots of places.
As far as not wanting to go through registration, it's an unfortunate result of organizations having to justify why they get federal or state funds. They need to say how many of which type people they are serving.
