Can two people with HIV have sex
      #202471 - 08/04/06 05:26 AM

Is it safe for 2 people who both have HIV to have sex. Can having sex make HIV worse if the other person has it too.

Im sorry if this is a stupid question.

There are no stupid questions, only stupid people. :P

I saw this topic on the "ask the experts" forum. Here is the URL. Sorry I can't hyperlink it for you, you'll have to copy/paste.

Not a stupid question.

It is recommeded that condoms are used so that the different strains are not traded. ie: you may be resistant to Sustiva and your partner isn't. Your partner could concievable become reinfected with your strain and then become resistant to the Sustiva.

actually having unprotected sex between 2 positives, if reinfected can create a mutated strain that is resistant to all meds that both parties are on and/or resistant to.

What if one of the hiv + people are not on meds yet? Will that make a difference?

nope, it still mutates, and still produces resistance....its even possible to form a mutant strain that is resistant to all meds. No One can predict the outcome of the mutation*

Having sex is part of life...and yes there is sex after an HIV diagnosis. Oh yes, its possible . Is it safe? Unprotected insertive sex with an HIV positive person regarless of YOUR OWN status is not safe. Protected sex, yes...its fine.

But what about blow jobs....I continue to have unprotected oral. Its fine, I believe.
What about masturbation with fruits and vegetables? Whatever turns you on. Thats safe. Only I am not sure I would eat a carrot that has just been "inserted". lol
