I went to my doctor today. My numbers are all amazing. CD4=701, viral load undetectable. And he says that I no longer have HepC. I have never heard of this. I am pleased, don't get me wrong. It's just kinda crazy. I was always told that it was only possibly curable with interfuron. I did not take that treatment though. Maybe it's because I have only had possibly 30-40 drinks containing alcohol in my entire life. Only 3 in the last 3 years. Anyone else "get over" HCV or hear about it? The statistic is 12% get over it I guess. But anyway....YAY! One less worry. And I haven't smoked a cigarette in three weeks! Life is looking up.

Your viral levels are undetectable, the virus is likely lurking somewhere. You will need to be monitored for the remainder of your life, but you may not have hepatitis, which is an inflammation of the liver, yay. And since HEP C is spread generally by sharing needles, I don't think your alcohol consumption ever had anything to do with you having HEP C. Great about the cigarettes, but have you worked on any drug habits you may have?

Alcohol comsumption doesn't spread Hep C, however, because it attacks the liver, alcohol comsuption can quicken the damage. People with Hep C are told they should not drink. Think David Crosby.

Oh whatever, this is an HIV site, take your HepC somewhere else where they deal with that sort of thing, like NA. We all have co-infections, ducky, whether its MAC, or CMV, or PCP, and no one with HIV and on meds should drink a drop of alcohol.

Hey scotcharles: I'm pretty sure this site is for people living with hiv to share any experience/information they want. Generally, we try and support each other rather than being rude and suggesting someone go elsewhere. Instead of getting bitchy because someone humbly explained your error, why don't you just congratulate Heatherblue for her exciting and wonderful news and get over yourself.
