Ferritin as a predictor of HIV mortality?

As I have posted my ferritin levels have increased from 424 to 724 in five months, a nearly exponential rate of increase. I test positive as a carrier of the hemochromotosis gene, but I do not have the gene on both chromosomes, so I shouldn't get hemochromostosis.
In studies conducted as far back as 1992, ferritin was identified as an important factor in judging the level of the immune response. A recent study (2004) found that high levels of serum ferritin had a high correlation with HIV mortality regardless of viral load and CD4 count.
It seems that ferritin effects the ability of certain white blood cells to fight infection. I have always wondered, as have my doctors, why I came down with PCP when my CD4s were at nearly 400, maybe ferritin is a clue.
I am getting ready for a visit with my liver specialist on Monday and have been reading up on HIV and ferritin. Most of the chemistry eludes me, I confess. Has anyone experience with this?
Ferritin is also a predictor of B cell production, a marker for leukemia; and, certain liver disorders.
I am certain that Dr. Edelman, my liver specialist, will just want to monitor the situation for a while longer. Meanwhile, my joints are killing me, my skin is turning an interesting shade of bronze (quite attractive on me I am told), and I feel as though I am seizing up like the Tin Man in the Wizard of Oz.
Wonderfully, my hair has taken on a Hugh Grant look, that I love.
