HIV a DISEASE or a CONDITION
      #189224 - 05/03/06 12:36 PM

SO WHAT IS IT???

This is a very intersting question is it not...? Pharma says it's a Condition, others +ve and -ve say its a disease and or condtion..

WHATS THE BLOODY ANSWER!?!?!?!

"Oh Eric, I am so sorry for you, thats a horrible disease."

A disease is something that can break down your body. Pregnancy is a condition.

I still see it in my mind as a Condition... Let me try and explain my FUCKED OVER LOGIC..

Right now I am healthy in as far as I have not developed any OI's. I have no other secondary complications to being +ve yet. Until I do, to me, I have a condition that could develop into something called a disease. I still like the word "condition" when I talk to lay people. I am very open and candid about hiv if I am asked. I just dont want to spread fear amounst people who purhaps do not know what hiv is or know how it has evolved related to meds toxic as they may be..... I keep seeing it all over the internet a HIV = DISEASE and how sorry we are for you. I frankly am tired of that kind of sympthay.. Yes, it can lead there, but if you are kept in check, these won't develop for some time. Am I off track at my stage of hiv? I dont know. Are we in some sort of transitionary aspect of this? I want to be firm and positive in how I communicate to others. I don't want to spread fear amounst people. I dont want to cause fear amounst my friends, family etc. Disease has that fucked up word "STIGMA" and HIV=DISEASE=DEATH. Thats all I am saying. For my own personal sanity, I like to say that I have a condition left unchhecked will kill me via all sorts of diseases manifesting themselves. Are we as a community doing ourselves a favor labeling this at all.. Again, I don;t know!!!!!!!

Ok, Now rake me over the coals, shove hot pokers in my eyes, gouge out my spleen (better yet my liver since I wont have one in a few years)...

REMEMBER I AM FRAGIL AND COULD FALL APART AT ANY SECOND.

It makes pretty good sense. In the old days, when mothers would have anxiety attacks or were heavy drinkers, they would say she had a "condition", which implied that at some point it would go away or she could be cured. HIV does not go away. It is a disease that can be kept in check, but it is still a disease. It just lays in the backround. Stigma is going to be there no matter what. That is just the ignorance of people who don't want to learn about it. I for one am tired of what other people think . In this day and time there isn't a person who doesn't know of HIV. Take it on a case by case basis. Change the world one perosn at a time.

What does the dictionary say Eric?

Girls you cant read this... Skip it.. You know Chuck when you were just around 7 or 8 years old. You would step on ants, get out your magnifing glass and insinerate those little buggers. Pour gasoline down their ant hill and light it? Burned off half my dads front yard one year with that little ploy. Rip the legs off of grass hopers and whatch them fumble about? Or get lightening bugs and rip the their butts off and stick them in a glass jar and use it as a lantern? Gosh those were the days. Except now I cant burn them fuckers with a magnifiying glass. I remember the crackel and the smell.. Those were the days... Yeah.. Good times...

How do I get good karma back after all of these abosutely terrible acts I have committed????

Signed Spud

You have committed terrible acts? I don't understand. I was merely saying that sometimes parsing words is a silly past time. I can call stealing someone's money, merely an intent to borrow without later means to repay, but the end effect is the same, a person was deprived of their money. Now you lawyers don't give me a lecture on mens rea, I know that does make a difference legally. But in the world outside the court room, is the person better off because his money wasn't stolen, but merely borrowed and not repaid?
