someone please explain the "terms" of dementia

would someone please explain, from personal experience, what words like apathy mean in terms of late stage aids and dementia. all the fancy words aren't adding up in my brain. I wish I could find and read a book describing the day in the life of aperson experiencing apathy or say, forgetfulness, or social isolation, etc...to be able to know if this is what it is or what to expect. For personal reasons.
