How do you "patiently" wait?
      #183171 - 03/29/06 03:32 PM

It seems like this is all a big waiting game - first wait for enough time after exposure for antibodies to develop, then wait for test results, then wait for appt. with HIV specialist, then wait for more test results. I AM SICK OF WAITING!!! I just heard from my new doctor's office, and have to wait until 4/12 to find out my viral load and CD4 numbers. That sucks. It would be so reassuring to find out that I'll be okay without meds for a while. Anyone else have trouble with waiting? Guess I better get used to it, huh?

Deej, You might as well practice.. You canot define your life by the next set of numbers nor the time between visits. Stop it now. Learn to live in the moment. Its a learning thing which you will get use to. I enjoy every (except when I am not) minute I can NOT thinking about numbers and stupid shit like that. Give it a whirl shall we?

Well if they've took you blood it's out of your hands, there's nothing more you can do. Carry on eating well, exercising, etc. I was talking to my councellor about the fact that i was really scared about my next blood results and he told me straight ' when the nurse takes your blood it's like a snap shot... it's one part of your body at one moment in time and anything could affect that, you could be run down, you could have had a night on the beer so if it's worst than you thought don't worry to much'. At the end of the day this is ours lives from now on and the only thing you can do is look after yourself anything other than that is beyond our control, so please try not to worry (i know it's hard) xx

Thank you - I needed that. I think I need a break - from all the test results, waiting, etc. - a break to just enjoy life. What do I do that I truly enjoy - not much of anything, really. It's time for that to change - I'm going to finish reading a good book I started 2 weeks ago, and that's just a start.

I am trying to eat healthier, sleep well, etc. - but today has been a 'no appetite' day - but I ate an apple with dinner, and popcorn and carrot sticks for a snack (instead of cookies or something chocolate) I do think the vitamins I'm taking have helped my legs (the pain I've been having for 2 months - likely MS-related spasticity) - I'm taking a Womens multivitamin from GNC, Selenium, Vitamin C and occasionally a couple others. Hey, if it helps how I feel and/or my immune system, I'll take whatever I can.

once you get thru the all the tests, vaccines & numbers... it's smoooooth-ish sailing! just make sure you EAT!!! trust me!! i have the perpetual "no appetite day" i have to force myself to eat (a certain herbal remedy helps me get hungry)it's a constant battle for me to keep weight on. i've lost 18lbs since august. so eat eat eat. not empty calorie eating, good for you food. oatmeal is your friend. but let's not explore the wonderful world of fiber while you're on meds!! LOL!! i'll fall off my chair if we start up on wall splatter again!!

I hate the damn waiting. I just went yesterday for my blood and have to wait until 4/11. I know anything can affect the results...I can have gas and it can affect it. I always get stressed out a couple of days before my blood and until I get the results. I know and am confident I will be ok but it is hard.

Yea, unfortunately that is how it goes. You have to wait for test results for 2 weeks, then you might have to go back every 3 months to test your cd4 count depending what your results are. On a more positive note, I haven't started meds and I was diagnosed in November 2003. It is very hard I know, but you will get used to it. How long ago were you diagnosed? The thing that ultimately sucks for me is knowing that each day is numbered even if there is medicine.. I think I am really depressed still considering how I was infected. Just know that no matter what you can get through it. Take care
