Yellow Fever Vaccination

My HIV doctor has advised against a yellow fever vaccination before my trip to Kenya; and, a vaccination is not required for entry into Kenya. It does seem advisory to me given that I will be in Yellow Fever country around Mt. Kenya for part of my holiday. Anyone have any experience of the Yellow Fever Vaccination and HIV?
The problem seems to be that the Yellow Fever vaccination is a live virus, although enfeebled.

Sorry, have not been there yet. Got as far as So. Africa.
No shots require there. Check into it some more.
Be well and healthy

It's that live virus thing.
HIV+ people, no matter their CD4 count should never have any vaccine that contains a live virus.
It has something to do with it's not a good idea to actually infected someone with a compromised immune system with a disease, which is what you do with live virus vaccines, actually give the person the illness for the body to fight off and produce antibodies.

That doesn't seem to be the general expert consensus. What do you base your opinion on? My CD4 is currently at 400+ with an undectable viral load. Seems worth the risk.

All I can say is my specialist has advised me never to get any live virus vaccines. I guess it's a case of your' damnned if you do and damnned if you don't.

I'm going to get a waiver signed by my doctor and stamped by the yellow fever center here in Pasadena based on hypersensitivity to eggs. Keeps HIV out of the picture and renders me (at least on paper) unable to be immunized for yellow fever since the virus for the vaccine is grown in chicken eggs.
Of course now I will have no immunity to yellow fever, but I will have Jungle OFF and Raid Flying insect with me at all times while in Kenya on safari.
Yes, AIDS is a fun disease.

You can choose to see the absurdness of our lot or you can be miserable, mired in anger. The choice is yours, always. Whatever, you choose we will be there for you, that is our choice.
