brenda.. you can ask his doctors if he can take immodium AD daily. alot of patients take that, and it does help. MOST of the medications to treat hiv will cause diarrhea. sometimes they can prescribe something (I think...I could be wrong) its call loramipide???? spelling could be WAY off. but if the diarrhea is that excessive he should talk to his doctor about what he can take with the medication to help it.
good luck debbie

Kaletra side effects can include diarrhea, significant increases in blood fats (cholesterol and triglycerides), liver toxicity (with increased liver enzymes), stomach pain, feeling weak or tired, headache, nausea and vomiting. Diarrhea was reported by about a quarter of participants in Kaletra studies. Increases in cholesterol and triglycerides were also reported in up to a quarter of study participants. In some cases increases in cholesterol and triglycerides were very large, and regular monitoring of these blood fats is essential for anyone who takes Kaletra. People co-infected with hepatitis B and/or hepatitis C may be at greater risk of developing liver toxicity from Kaletra.
Kaletra may also be linked to a side effect called pancreatitis. Pancreatitis is a potentially dangerous inflammation of an organ called the pancreas. Currently this side effect has been seen in less than 1% (1 out of 100) people taking Kaletra. It is not yet certain if Kaletra causes pancreatitis. All cases have involved people taking other drugs. Researchers are now investigating to find out if Kaletra played a role. The manufacturer recommends monitoring triglycerides and amylase in people taking Kaletra to watch for signs of pancreatitis.

Another good thing that everyone can use is : http://www.aidsmeds.com/
This will help if you ever have any questions on particular AIDS meds. Otherwise walgreens.com has a great database or just google it. There is a huge amount of info out there!!! :)

Brenda.. We are not doctors here and we would have no business looking at your brothers charts. Does your brother have access to a doctor right now? You said financially there were some problems? Is there a medical assistance program that your brother has used in the past.? I feel for you and the position that you have taken to help him.
I would ask how long since he has begun his HIV treatment? Kaletra is a very powerful PI and it will make alot of difference in his AIDS progression. There are way to many factors here for your brother. I still feel seeking professional medical adivse for your brother is prudent and required.
I await your reply.

Erik I know that some of you are not doctors I am not showing his chart because I want to expose him,
I belive that this forum is to help us one to anothers,
Hector had AIDS probably since 3 or 4 years ago he never tooked a treatment. he statrte being very sick and loosing weight, we asked him if everything was ok, He said it was the flu. Until He told us the Threw
, I just found about a month ago about this. I do not know what to do or, the right way to help him, He just went to see a Doctor In Reynosa, Mexico at the Seguro Social I do not know how advance they are, I had been reading and knocking doors for weeks, I even asked the doctors in this web page but they did not answerd me back, I am trying to help him and I sware Iam doing the best, may be you all see it wrong but, may be sombebody is a doctor and will advise me, He was not taking any medications until 1 month and he started doing it because I contacted a fiend of mine in anther state from Mexico. I am totally lost, I had been looking for programs that can advise us but, his financially situation is very difficult, he can not walk very well right now, he is not eating enough, some time he lose reallity of the situation, he is depress, but I think taht it is part of the kaletras procees. it is because I am showing is medical records maybe somebody will help me.
brenda.

Brenda, you are being very strong for your brother. The medicine that he is on is very good. Its still very earily if he is only into treatment for one month. As far as doctors go, just be sure he is in some sort of contact with them. If he has friends or relatives close by, maybe they can help. Being in advanced AIDS he is most likely experiencing some detioration of his mental capacity. But this should come back if he sticks with his medications. I fear tho he still needs to be monitored by friends or family who can speak for him and get the help that he needs. Brenda, you are an angel for a sister. Stay strong for your brother... I am also going to advise you visit AIDSMEDS.COM.. This is a good sight for further help from experienced people living with HIV/AIDS. Know you and your brother are in our prayers.
Love
