Beware of scam operators of internet dating sites!
      #173474 - 02/05/06 04:52 PM

I have been following the recent revelations of the scandal of and yahoo personals being sued by "paying customers" who allege both these well known and very non HIV+ dating sites were using a very common technique too lure in paying customers, and yahoo personals both are accused in court filed law suits for posting fake ads of non-existent advertisers, photos, to give the false impression of a more viable site than they really have, and even further both are accused of having thier employees send out "fake instant kiss messages" too paying clients too make them feel thier paid ads are being fruitful and productive, and keep the paying clients paying...! One should not shocked by such unethical not too mention illegal activity since it appears its a common well known and well practiced tactic by unscrupulous internet dating site operators who put profits above ethics and legality...! If anyone has posted ads on PozCircle, Positive singles too just mention a couple of the well known pay sites which say they are trying too help us HIV+ one has been done the same, if you paid nothing for the free posting then you lost nothing, but if you paid the fees for the service you have been defrauded and would have a legitimate claim before the Federal Trade Commission too bring a claim of wrong doing...! I would hope those who have been defrauded will see this and file the free on line complaints against these unethical, white collar criminals and put them out of business, since only then will legitimate sites ever come about, since as long as they get away with it via deception and anonymously hiding behind internet they will keep doing it and making many HIV+ seeking internet dating become less than thrilled with the fake results from these sites. There are only about two legitimate HIV+ dating sites on the net today both are non-profit, allow free postings and free inter-communication between those who post ads, one is run by POZ Magazine, web location is
Second is run by
which is basically a HIV+ news, and information site but offers a free personal ad site with no gimics, no hidden costs, as with the other sites, one can go ahead and waste ones hard earned money on these pay sites, and these unethical site operators are laughing at your gullibility all the way too the bank...! Some claim too be HIV+ owned and operated, and claim humanitarian ideals, but one can believe this site unseen and unproven if one wants too, but as is common on the internet, one can claim anything and it not be true...! My rule of thumb is if they are profit based, then one should assume that is thier motivation, and its not humanitarian, nor is it too offer you some anonymous site too post photos and ads away from the prying eyes of the non HIV+ population and you will not meet any higher calibar of people who pay for ads versus those who use the free sites, since anyone of any back ground can pay too have a ad posted and many simply get lured too these sites, post a ad and photo and then discover the free ad is not free but requires paid membership too contact anyone and forget the even posted the ad, and you being a paying customer think this site with many photos and ads must be a great site and place of much communication when maybe the site operator is the one sending you these "fake instant kiss messages" making you think your paid ad is being so productive....! Then you have the international scam artists who love too post paid ads on some of these sites, they love too lure some american into a communication where they can hack your computer via the instant message or via you giving up information yourself, they might even claim too be living in the USA as many do, and actually are in africa, russia, europe, operating highly technical operations and when your bank account is hacked and you find your balances gone, you wonder why and how...but it was that instant yahoo message you were doing where you have too lower ones firewall settings too even do such instant messages. Beware of the pay sites, and beware simply of the old saying if it sounds too good to be true it is likly too good to be true...! One should rarely use the instant message until you have gotten a USA phone number from your potential internet friend, since these international scam artists will immediately disappear once you ask for the USA phone number and beware of the women who post these bikini photos, many times these are not the women behind these computer screens but might even be some overweight man smoking a cigar who merely went out too some beach and or paid some hooker too pose for some photos, he uses in his scam...! Men are more likely hooked with these scam artists, the women are more likely hooked with claims of men having expensive homes, highly educated backgrounds, well fixed finances etc....! One should not take everything one reads in a email as fact, since the biggest mistake one can make is not having some healthy distrust....! I have exposed these scam artists sometimes as simply asking for a USA phone number, they fade into cyber space and you never hear from them again, or ask for mulitple photos, since on occassions I have gotten photos from some less sophisticated con artists who obviously have so many scams going they send out photos of different women too same person...! But the truly good con men/women, are not so easily exposed, many especially the international ones will even admit they live in Nigeria, United Kingdom, Russia etc....and ask for 1/2 of ticket too come too USA too meet you, but thats merely a lure too get you to send money, and they are playing on your loneliness...! The internet is riddled with the international scam artists, and do not doubt for one minute we do not have our own USA home grown variety, we do, and they are smart enough too have many good stories too lure you into thier web of deciet and fraud....! Some might be HIV+, but many are not....! So the moral too my posting is avoid the pay sites and you save money, if you have used the pay sites, file a complaint with the Federal Trade Commission and help put them out of business and use the free sites and use your caution and good sense, and help promote the good free sites as I am doing, how easy it would be for you if like me you posted on message boards like this one and others, or if you have access too a printer print up a simple one page flyer detailing the benefits of POZ Magazine dating site
And drop thes flyers at your local clinic where you get your medical are, HIV+ organization waiting rooms, who knows that one person who you might be seeking might see it and post a ad, and one real intersting fact many do not have home computers, or internet, and neither is necessary for posting ads, since any public library offers free computer use and free internet, and yahoo and hotmail both offer free email services, so in your flyer you might mention this simply fact and educate those who think they cannot access the internet on this free no cost method of internet dating. You might ask why waste my time, well to date 1.9 million of us have been diagnosed in the USA as HIV+, and one can safely see by visiting any HIV+ dating site, free of pay no where near even 20,000 people nation wide post ads, and in most cases less than 300 people so many are not aware or just simply have never thought of the idea....! One can increase ones own chances of meeting that one person whom you might find life long happiness with by simply becoming involved and passing the word along...! In any event ink and paper and some of your time is a really cheap way too participate...!
