As a worker for the NYC government, I am finding that our medical plans cover less and less for prescriptions. The plan I am in now will not cover me adequately at all -- it has a $3,000 cap -- and I really need to know if there is anyone who can advise me on an insurance plan that does cover HIV medications in full. I greatly appreciate any response.

have you tried looking into your local ADAP agencies. Even if you have insurance, it will cover the costs of the prescriptions past your deductable (maybe even save you from such a high deductable as well). The income guidelines are pretty high, so even with insurance and a good paying job, you should be eligible. Call your local aids organization, and alot of times you can get that type of assistance thru your hiv specialist care. (they usually have people who work directly with that....whether it be social workers, or folks in the dept who just handle that) Its worth looking into. You would still keep your current health insurance, this is really just a back up type of insurance that helps pay for your prescriptions.
check it out....and let me know how it goes?
love and prayers, debbie

Hi. You can try your local Social Security office. Also there is the Ryan White foundation. They may be able to help. I currently have ADDP. That is a wonderful program in NJ. I do not know if it is NY. Ask your Dr or clinic, they can also help point you in the right direction, that is how I found out about my program. Good luck
