looking for a small puppy
      #163760 - 11/09/05 06:32 PM

Hi, I am a gay HIV poz man living outside of NYC. I posted another message today also, I am wondering if anyone believes that some animals can have a healing quality for their owners. The reason I ask is that I am looking for a puppy. My dog died this year and while it was a big responsibilty to take care of her, she bought a lot of Joy to my life and was a constant source of pleasure and companionship to me. She was a big girl too, (a rottewieller).
But she was the sweetest most adorable and nicest animal i ever owned, there was not a mean bone in her body. And she slept with me too ( hair everywhere) I hated it but knowing she was around I was happy. Well I am looking for a small tiny breed animal (Dog only). I would like it to be a puppy when I get her because of bonding issues( do I sound like a Frustrated Mother) I am. Does anyone know of anyone who has a puppy that they want to donate to me. Or does anyone know of an organization that donates to HIV poz individuals specifically. I am going to try Northshore animal league in LI
or other outlets but I need to take care of something other than myself, and I can put ribbons on her hair and paint her toe nails and get her a pearl necklace( So Gay). Thanks for reading this again.

I think animals (especially dogs) are so theraputic...especially for emotional pain and distress....there is NOTHING better thant the unconditional love offered by a dog. Small dogs are so precious...though I have to add my two cents...I have a golden retriever and it is honestly one of the sweetest breeds I have evern owned (have had many dogs in my life). Definetly give them a look. They are so loving and compassionate. I look into my sadie's eyes and swear she has a human soul....I'm not sure of any places that donate to HIV pos, but there are rescues all across the US that may be a great option (they do have puppies as well, espeically during the holiday season and soo thereafter as people jump into xmas presents without thinking of the long term responsibilities) Best of luck in your search for a furry companion!!! If I find anyone that is looking to give away a puppy, I will definetly drop a post.

Me and William have a family which includes Johnny. He is a focal point of our home life. He keeps us very happy and off the subject of HIV. We are blessed to have him in our home. Go out and adopt!!!

Adopt a dog from your local animal shelter. Those animals NEED homes and love SO MUCH, and you sound like the perfect companion/owner for one (or more) of them!

Thanks Jenn, Faith and Eric for responding, after I read your responses it put a smile on my face. By the way, despite the fact I want to paint my dogs toe nails and put a pearl necklace on her, I AM A MASCULINE GUY AND STR8 ACTING. (SMILE) THANKS AGAIN. Okay now its time to do the dishes. Bye.

Tom and I have 2 dogs, when the one that I had from just after I found out I was HIV+ until 7/4/2003 (14years) he had become so attached to her in the time we had been together and she passed away. I was adamant that I did not want another dog but by 9/1/2005 on his birthday we had 2 more. Vicky & Freya are the girl’s names and they have been a godsend, pets are wonderful support.

my teenage son brought home a 3month old puppy and she is the best thing that's happened in my home in a long time. we are a very close knit family and with the puppy came more happiness, laughter, intrigue and a general feeling of overall wellness for me. pets are very therapeutic and i recommend adopting a dog because they are very caring, loving (beings)
