Sex after diagnosis
      #160791 - 09/28/05 09:51 PM

I have a question I would like the answer to (if anyone knows) before my next doctor's appointment. If you're on meds and have sex with another positive person, what is the level of danger that you might acquire a resistant form of the virus?

Nearly zero if you practice safe sex. See guidelines on this site. You should disclose your status to all sex partners to avoid civil and criminal prosecution for reckless endangerment. Some states, such as Alabama, have very harsh laws regarding exposing a person to HIV without disclosure, even if you practice safe sex.

Safe sex can be fun, if you are playfully creative and follow the rules.

You would not get an immediate reaction. The latent viruses that everyone has in their body will become apparent when your t-cells fall to a low number.

My state does not criminalize against hiv and undisclosure. Does that mean they can not prosecute you here? Massachusetts....
