disabilty insurance through employer

Does anyone know if it's possible to collect long-term disability insurance through an employer if you have hiv and hepatitis C? Is it difficult to do that and does your employer have to know your exact medical condition.

First thing to do is to check and see if their insurance has any exclusions on what constitutes as a disability .
then go ahead and check with the ssa and see if you can qualify for your disability .
Now either of these options will of course take time so I hope that you have enough resources to tide you over beacuse it some times takes up to a year for the ssa to d etermine if you are qualified for ssd but the up side to it is that if you are qualified that they pay you from the time that you apply if you are approved !

i have collected benefits thru my employer. Make sure you read the pre-existing conditions outlined in the policy. I had no problems have my claim approved.
