Could HIV virus still survive after normal laundry

Hello there,
My pants were contaminated by somebody's blood the day before yesterday. Later, I put that pants into the laundry machine with some other clothes . I washed them in normal washing cycle (cold water cycle with normal detergent), and dried them in the normal drying cycle too. Today I wear this cleaned pants again. But I began to worry in a sudden. If the pants were contaminated by a HIV positive guy's blood, could this normal washing and drying cycle that I used kill all the HIV virus? Should I discard the pants? Thanks for your help.

dont discard your pants. escpecially if you love them. even if you didn't wash them right away, the hiv in the blood would have died after sitting in the air. (within seconds of touching the air). so putting them in the machine is best to get the stain out, (esp. if it is a blood stain......i'm even surprized it came out). But you have ABSOLUTELY NO WORRIES ABOUT HIV WITH THAT PAIR OF JEANS.
love and prayers to you, deb

So normal detergent(without bleach) we use for daily clothes washing can also kill HIV virus, right?

If the virus is in contact with air for at least a few seconds it is dead. The washing detergent shouldnt matter. You may want to worry more about getting the stain out. :) After all the process of air, washing and drying you have no fear.

even just leaving the clothes (without washing) the virus could not survive. (although the clothes may not survive the stain) there would be no concern about transmitting hiv thru blood on your clothes.
love and prayers to you, debbie

HIV lives in the blood. When blood is outside the body the HIV dies in 4 minutes and would NOT survive a normal wash cycle. Also you would need to mix your blood with his blood. Remember: worry saps the strength.

Lady: you could take a bucket of that blood and roll around in it and rub it all over your skin & the chances of you becoming infected by it are very low. LIGHTEN UP

How long does HIV live outside the body? In semen ? In blood ? Does it die when exposed to air ?
