What is the story about dry skin and hiv? the symptoms include eczema? does everyone that has hiv have bad skin?
I have heard that hiv positive individuals develop dry skin when the t-cells are low? someone please answer!

Well, I have been having skin problems since July 2004, a bad abscess that had to be surgically removed, one just 2 days ago that had be be cut and drained, 2 that I had to be treated for, 2 spider bites that became infected, and impetigo which caused my face to swell horribly! The worse I have had
were bouts of acne when I was much younger. So I don't know if dry skin can be caused by a low CD4 count, but that's the first thing they check, what is my count. HIV meds themselves have so many side effects, I'm wondering if that could be a cause....good luck! At least there are newer products for dry skin....my b/f (hiv- but has had skin problems his entire life) uses Aveeno body wash, very soothing and moisturizing. Shea butter, etc.

Not everyone w/ HIV has dry skin problems. A common problem though is sebhorric dermatitis, which is like dandruff but not on your scalp. The eyebrows is where it's likely to start, then around the bridge of the nose. I've never heard of an HIV/eczema connection. I have heard from poz people that Lever 2000 seems to help their dry skin.

Which part is the bridge of the nose?

The bridge is the long part, up and down. Sebhorric dermatitis can appear anywhere, but the eyebrows and then down either side of the nose is where I use to get it, and my doctor told me that was the norm for his patients who had it. He also said that a lot of people without HIV get it as well, so it's not indicative of HIV infection.
