Anyone out there familiar with potential tax exemptions and the like for people living with HIV? You know, exemptions on capital gains, that sort of thing?

Hmmmmm, I'm not a tax consultant (I do know a little from my last job) but I don't HIV in itself grants any special exemptions, only the usual medical, possibly transportation. My IRA, etc. is treated the same as anyone else's, I would assume capital gains it's the same. Have you contacted IRS? I used their site quite a bit at work, it's a liittle easier than SSA! Good luck, hope you get different official answers.

Your medical expenses are deductible if they exceed a certain per centage of your income. Nothing else comes to mind.
If you know your time is less than three years, you could quit paying taxes. The IRS has a three window on tax audits and probably would abate any taxes due from someone who is in contemplation of imminent death.
Caveat to that, most of us who have had the virus more than ten years can recall when we thought we were on our way out, and here we are.
