my brother is hiv+ for more than 10 years, and since he was diagnosed he´s been on meds. he takes 200mgs.nevirapin twice a day, and 150+300mgs twice a day too. At first we all thought we ´d die of so much pain and fear, but thanks God we´ve learned to live with that. what makes things more difficult is that he never talks about his case and feelings, so we can´t help when he´s down, although I always try to make him bring things out.what bothers him the most is that his lipoatrophy is really severe, and all I´ve read that works for that is SCULPTRA(?), WHAT IS TOO EXPENSIVE FOR US TO AFFORD.If there is something else, please let me know.

I know if you call the company SCULPTRA (I could be spelling it wrong). If it is medically documented, his lipoatrophy) it could be covered on his insurance. (I work in a doctors office) the doc is a primary care hiv doctor and one of our patients brought in this paperwork for the doc to fill out, and you also have to send your ins. info and a a copy of your income. you should start by calling sculptra

Meds can cause lipoatrophy, as well as lipodystrophy. In what your brother has, my personal experience is that the medications are reducing his ability to process nutrients. I have to supplement vitamins & minerals to a high degree, along with a high protein diet. Soy protein works good, and is easily digested. Supplementation with higher fiber also helps to absorb food value, by slowing the passage through the intestine, and also carries toxins (meds cause a lot) out of the body.
Exercise is priceless in helping maintain body mass. I could not make it without it.
Do some research into Sculptra, and similar products. Ask the healthcare provider for your brother. Much of it is only temporary in the result, and does nothing for the source of the problem.
I have been HIV+ over 20 years.

Sculptra is the least cost at about $600 per session for the Doctor only. If you make less than 40,000 per year, go to www.sculptra.com and they will provide the product at no cost. If you want more information, repost an email address and I'll give you all the details I have from my research.
