why no cure? do govts care?
      #133037 - 01/18/05 08:13 AM

How come there is no cure and hiv/aids has been around in the public eye now for 20 years? I dont believe for a seconf there is not a cure already. I also believe aids/hiv was started on purpose. In general hiv/aids affects the gay/drug using and poor societies therfore it could be possible it has been developed to keep world population down? If not the governments dont care for these sectors of soicety. I do know lots of other classes get the virus as well but that is a small price to pay to rid us of them lot perhaps?
Id like to say I have the virus -and Im not gay, a drug user or whatever

The reasons are not the governments, the reasons are the amount of money that is given to the researchers is mainly grant moneys and is much regulated. We worked for years getting moneys for the research centers where they could work outside of the guidelines of the grants. If it had not been for the amounts of outside moneys that were raised, we would still be farther away than we are now.
You also have to understand that this is not the easiest virus to work with because it has the ability to mutate much faster and easier than other viruses such as cancer and Parkinson’s. Look at those they have been around much longer and there still is not a cure for them either.
Also in 2001 it was 20 years, it is now 2005.

Hope this helps you understand a bit more.

If governments cared perhaps they could use some of the millions from the lottery to go on R&D etc. Nobody cares about us and it is frustrating. I still cant believe I have it as I always considered it to be mainly gay community and drug users - obvisouly the odd exception
There should have been a cure by now -fuck all these meds etc - wow! living a life in pain and looking like a freak and not being able to be who you were in the past - just to stay alive - is it worth it? really worth it? I dont think so

why no cure for the common cold? Cause it's a virus. Why no cure for herpes (around longer then HIV) cause it's a virus. Viruses are hard to kill.
Why no cure for cancer? Why no cure for blindness, deafness, mental illness? Just because this disease happened to you does not mean that it's the worse thing that could happen to a human. Lots of people were born blind or deaf or retarded or are paralized or suffer from a disease! You've been fortunate your whole life and then you got this disease. Lots of people didn't have that fortune. They were born in suffering and pain. They are midgets and people laugh at them. Or they are handicapped and can't get around. Think of these people! Volunteer with them and you will find true courage. It's not a conspiracy or anything! Don't be so self involved. Stop blaming others or trying. Deal with it. Make the best and understand that you are not the most unfortunate!

we should all be quarantined and used as guinea pigs in some island - im not being stupid but it would stop the rise in aids and get the scientists to hurry up and do somthing worth while

I think that last response about putting all HIV+ people on an Island was a bit OUT THERE!!!!!!! We are human beings here and not all of us are suffering because of the illness to the degree that I would want to be seperated from my family and used as a guinea pig...ummmmm...think there may be a bit of a problem with that response...well at least from me!!!!~Jessie~

I have had HCV HBV HIV. The "Docs" have done a zillion tests. No + viral loads? Why no meds ever? You want to know why there isn't any cure? I would like to know!

Whatever clinic I go to for "monitering" I am ALWAYS "requested " to submit to this Doctors research or that Doctor's research. I have been asking questions for two decades now, never receive an answer, just another damn request to be "followed". I am not trying to be self-absorbed here, but something is happening within my body and NO ONE in the research or treatment "seems to know" what. Or they don't want to "share" with me any information.

Makes one wonder. Clean and Serene for 13 years. HIV and HBV infected since 1983 and 1984 respectively. HCV since about 1986 or 87. I just can't remember any more.

Some where out there, there is a pharmacutical company out there. And if they "don't have the answer(s) yet", they are pretty damn sure what the questoins are.

Happy to be alive [especially since up to 3 years ago, I kept being told, You gonna die next spring, etc.]

PS: Blood type A+. Need a white cell blood transfusion?
