Thrush is candidas, a yeast-like fungus. Acidophilus bacteria kills candidas, and is normally present in the digestive system unless something kills it. Use of oral antibiotics will kill acidophilus, and it has to be replaced.
The best source of acidophilus is unpasteurized milk. Second best is acidophilus in pill or capsule form, and you may want some milk with it to give it something to grow on. It needs lactose. If possible, find some acidophilus that has been kept in a refrigerator.
I have read that yogurt and acidophilus milk will not contain active bacteria because they are pasteurized after the bacteria is added.
If the acidophilus treatment doesn't seem to help the thrush, try another brand from another store. Not all supplements will contain viable bacteria.
