Like the previous poster, I to am worried sick after visiting with escorts. I had 3 different encounters with escorts always with a condom and am scared to death to take the test. Everyone says that with the proper use of a condom there is no chance of transmission, but i havent convinced myself of this. Complicating my worries, I have developed a rash in my groin area and on my chest and have been experiencing pain in my knee joints, I dont know if this has been caused from worrying so much or something else. My encounters were a year ago with 3 different escorts. Im hoping condoms are 99% plus effective like everyone says. Any comments are welcome!

You may get some kind of skin diseaes. Check it out. As for hiv, it is so remote. Why don't you stop it, then get tested in 3 months to ease your fear. Meanwhile, take it easy.

DOES ANYONE KNOW OF A SINGLE INSTANCE IN THE US OF A MAN BEING INFECTED WITH HIV FROM VAGINAL SEX WITH A WOMAN, WITH THAT BEING THE MAN'S ONLY RISK FACTOR? A SINGLE CASE? I HAVE SCOURED THE WEB AND CAN'T FIND A SINGLE EXAMPLE. THIS TELLS ME THAT THE ODDS ARE SO LOW THAT THEY ARE IMMEASURABLE.

Look, I guess there is no such study. Who will engage in such control study and have sex with +ve women. All we know is the fluid contain virus and it is possible to transmit from this knid of sex act.

A few things must all work against you for you to get HIV:
- The escort girl must be positive. And just because she sells sex doesn't mean she has the virus. If she wasn't positive, you can't get the virus. You have to be exposed to it to get it!
- It has to get into your bloodstream. This is impossible through a condom. Period.
Bottom line: YOU DON'T HAVE HIV!!! Your symptoms are due to stress. Relax. (And get a steady partner.)

I truly believe your "symptoms" are stress related..the same way I get a bad stomach or axiety ( panic) attacks.
lets keep talking

I believe the study made by Padian et al on discordant couples (1+, 1-) might enlighten you on transmission issues.

If you scroll down or page down to Escorts part 1, a long series on this same topic from yesterday, it should help. In my haste to type I left out a key word. Vaginal fluid does not transmit the virus to a male EFFICIENTLY due to the reasons listed (needs open access to male bloodstream, etc). I mistated that vaginal fluid doesnt contain the virus. However, I will find the link, but there was a site that indicated that blood which is produced through tears in the mucous membrane was a much more efficient transmitter of the virus. I will try to find it when I can. Sorry for any confusion. I still say though, if you wore a condom, you have no risk of hiv. The rash is likely stress related, but you might want to get checked for other non-HIV stds.... good luck.

I have been living under such HIV shadow for 6 months now. My encounter was in Thailand with escorts several times(Thailand is a place where HIV infection is one of the highest in the world), I used condoms all the time, however it does not getting me relieved from HIV fear.I too developed symptoms like rash, sore throat and most recently fungal infection on my foot, plus easy bruistality on the skin. I worried myself to death and I am glad to share my experience with people on the net and getting support from everybody. Thanks.

Are you the guy that has problem with your wife??? After 6 months, did you get tested. You should be OK since you have protected sex. Go on your life after your +ve result and go get back your wife and re-start your family. Don't live in regret any more. I am still not out of wood yet because I have the std/ herpes that cannot be cured and basically cannot return. You still got a chance. Go get it!! I will pray for you!!! J

Thank you. It am the one. I got even more scared when I read the message "Stupid" this morning. I got the impression that "safe sex" may not be safe at all, or it is just a matter of being unlucky. Anyway my last test was at 10th week, I did not get retested at 6 months and I don't have the courage to do so.

Please, please...just call the CDC and ask for statistics, they would tell you. Please stop believing that female to male its odd, all it takes is: one positive woman, and one man having sex with her unprotected. Get a grip! Chances are low, and much lower than receptive anal sex, and the chances a woman get it from a man are 8 times more than a man getting from a woman, but ITS POSSIBLE.
