In constant terror... more in depth...
      #98646 - 05/12/04 04:38 PM

Hello there.
I am 26 year-old male who recently has been dating a 24 year-old girl. We have had sex twice. I used a condom for both and it did not break. She performed oral sex on me for a little while, but I did not perform it on her.
She later informed me that she is a recovering heroin addict and used to inject the drug.
I was absolutely terrified, that I became pale and almost fainted. She informed me that she is currently in a rehab program and had been tested for HIV four or five times previously-- all negative results.
Her last test was about five months ago, and she is animate that she has never shared needles for drugs but used to get them from the pharmacy.
To calm my worry she volunteered for another HIV test which was performed about a week ago, we (mostly me) are still waiting for the results.
She has tested negative for all other STDs and Hepatits strains, but I am extremely paralyzed by fear for waiting for the results.
Based on your experiences, could you please help me out there and perhaps give me some advice or personal experiences?
Thank you

What I had failed to mention, was that she had given me oral sex after intercourse with a condom... therefore I am afraid that she would have moved her vaginal fluid from the base of my penis to the urethra during this time. Also, she had gotten tested last Tues. (4th) and we are still waiting for the results (its the 12th)... she had asked for a rush on the results (i know its only been 8 days), but why would her other test results come back, but not this one on the HIV? She is animate that she doesn't have it... which only makes me more worried...

Relax. Uusually Labs process HIV tests on a certain day of the week regardless when they took the sample. For example if you drew blood on friday and they process all tests on a thursday then your sample will not be processed until the following thursday. Depends on the procedure of your lab. Just so you feel better, I went to a lab that gives me the results on the same day where i have tested before. This time the results were not ready for 3 days. And i was so so nervous, I was sure it was because it was positive. When finally the results were in i went to pick them up and instead of giving me the paper like usual they told me somebody would come out in 5 minutes to talk to me. i ALMOST RAN OUT!! After all that , a person came out handed me the results and left. They were negative!!! Thank G.d! Hope this helps show that not everything is what it seems. good luck

Junkies usually clean the needles with bleach which kills hiv but dosent do a good job killing Hep C which is a easier virus to get
