Escorts
      #9861 - 09/21/00 06:05 AM

My Friends,

I am in a rotten place..I have frequented escorts ( never street walkers) and always used a condom 100% of the time. I have never had a failure in a condom. The women have always insisted on the condom. In fact once I used 2! For God's sake I am not the only man to have sex w/a escort....and I worry to death about having HIV, despite the facts stats and chances etc...I hate this , but I am SCARED beyond rationality of getting the test. I have scoured the net, talked to several doctors and friends as well as called the CDC.I can't relly find anyone to recommend conclusively getting a test, and that I am OK. My primary doctor actually just dismissed it ( in a nice way..not condescending)..How the HELL can a guy get it from a woman wearing a condom anyway??..and how do they explain the high rate of heterosexual men getting infected by heterosexual contact only?

My freind, technically I think you don't have to worry. You just lost the confident in people. OK, stop doing this escort activity forever. In 3 months time, get tested to ease your fear. After all you are OK!! How can you be infected??? No way!!

I'm going to try a different tact here since you have posted this note before. Vaginal fluid from a female does not transmit the virus. For a female to transmit the virus to a male, she must be bleeding from a vaginal tear. Ok, now that we have a viral source, it must have a way to enter the male's bloodstream. While all males have egos about our virility, the size of the area of our bodies being exposed is very small. So, we have a little blood from a small tear, and we have a small surface area for it to penetrate. Now, the virus cannot enter skin that is intact. So, now we need to have a rupture in the skin on the male penis. This must be a new rupture, not one that is scabbed over or mostly healed. The rupture can be on the surface, or inside the urethra. Now, think about how often you have ever had a cut or an open wound on or inside your penis? So, now you should begin to see why it is so difficult to transmit from female to male. On top of it all, you wore a rubber. 2 even. Think about that!

Again, I say you are fine. You do not know any of the people you slept with are infected. You used protection. even if you didnt, you still have exceptionally little risk.

Finally, I repeat myself in saying that I think a good percentage of males who are hiv poz and have told their physician they got it from a female are lying. They dont choose to have to bear up under the stigma of having gotten the disease plus also having to "come out" that they had a homosexual sex encounter. Think about that also.

I hope this helps you some.

Ok..thanks..like many I am obsessing..I am sorry if I upset you..I do have one more question though..you say that vaginal fluid does not transmit the virus..if the fluids does not transmit the virus, then why does everyone say that you can get the virus from exposure to vaginal fluids?

I would appreciate your insight then I will put this issue to rest.

Thank you very much.

My friend, it is great that you are sharing your personal experience with us. As a matter of fact, I had similar encounters like yours and I have been living with HUV fear for a long time. One question for you, Did you or Do you have any symptoms during this period. If you don't, why do you worry then? I did have some symptoms myself. Thanks.

Thanks for your support..

To answer, to the best of my knowledge I have never had the type of symptoms mentioned here (ARS). I am SURE I would notice swollen lymph nodes, and I have not had the flu or anything like it in years..I had strep throat a few years ago. But this does not stop me from being worried sick..and I am afraid to get a test, so I am really caught..this really is painful and I am seeing a therapist..hopefully I will get out of this. I am 38 and want to live my life.

i would like to know where you got your info about vaginal fluid not containing the virus. In fact, vaginal fluid does contain the virus, and can be at a very high level. Who says that it can not be transmitted by this fluid. Please show me some reference.

I had a risky exposure and would like to see your info. I am not the guy who has visited escorts.

I agree most of what you said, but I have some reservation about "good percentage of males who are hiv poz and have told their physician they got it from female are lying". While it's certainly plausible in the US, think about Africa, which has the highest HIV+ rate and population. Given a nearly 1:1 male/female ratio there, I think it's quite unlikely for most of the African men to be homosexual. Consequently, a large number of these men must have been infected by females.

Before anyone panics, please remember there is a higher prevalence of other STDs which greatly facilates the female -> male transmission.

YOU ARE SO SO WRONG!!!!!!!! new

Vaginal fluid DOES NOT HAVE to HAVE BLOOD TO BE INFECTIOUS. VAGINAL FLUID IS INFECTIOUS SO AS BLOOD IS ALSO INFECTIOUS. TWO DIFFERENT INFECTIOUS FLUIDS.
READ IT EVERYWHERE.
