over the last 8 months ive had this weird tongue problem, my tongue is cracked all over, top, sides and all. went to dr he said it looked like glossitis, is this any type of infection related to hiv? would not have other problems came into play if this was hiv related? it never goes away .sometimes it gets better but never really dissappears, would appreciate any feedback you have for this.

My freind, do yourself a favor to get tested IF you have an exposure that you are not sure. 8 months is more than conclusive. Don't match the sypmtoms. It may just go away after receiving your negative result.

Glossitis, or "geographic tongue" is a benign condition that is not related to HIV. Prior to my 12 week hiv test, I began to experience the cracked tongue appearance, some reddening on the very tip of the tongue, and a tingly/burning sensation that was especially bad if my mouth got dry. Things like wine or fruit juice made it worse. Bottom line, it is not HIV related and most doctors say it goes away on it's own. Good luck.
