I have tested negative on elisa, western blot, ultrasensitive pcr and bdna with the exception of a false positive elisa. Here's the scary part. My t cells are in the 400 range and slowly going down. My last exposure was over 5 years ago. I just had a lesion on the side of my tongue biopsied and it is oral hairy leukoplakia. The doctors are baffled. What now? Any suggestions?

Oral hairy leukoplakia is observed often in people with HIV infection; however, that does not mean that you are infected with HIV. Your tests are pretty conclusive that you are not infected with HIV. Oral hairy leukoplakia was also observed in people with CD4 levels of 500 or higher as well. Your doctors would have to do more tests.

Many people who are not HIV+ have T-cell counts that fluctuate in to the 300's. These fluctuations are due to stress and other viruses and problems in there system. OHL is not only something people with HIV get, anyone can get it.

I sure hope that you are right. Something does not seem right though!
