Can it really be true that even the highest risk exposures - unprotected anal sex as a bottom with a known HIV+ male - result in infection only at a rate of up to 3% of the time??? Am I reading that info. correctly??
So it would seem that even in the highest risk situation, you would have to be really "unlucky" to contact the virus from one single exposure??
How exactly are these numbers arrived at??
Thanks.

By many years of clinical studies and medical research. HIV is not easy to catch; even with a HIV+ partner the odds are low of contracting the disease unless all of the contributing factors are present. Just having a HIV+ partner is not all of the contributing factors.
