STD VS. HIV
      #9601 - 09/14/00 12:46 AM

I know alot of you worry about this as have i so here is a post from Dr.Gallant in regards to std being more easily spread then hiv. i hope it helps (it has helped me)
a little anyway.
By Joel E. Gallant, M.D., M.P.H. (02-Mar-1999)

Is it true that some other STDs are easier to contract than hiv? Why is this the case?
Most STDs are easier to contract than HIV. With syphilis and herpes, you have open genital lesions full of infectious particles (bacteria in the case of syphilis, virus in the case of herpes) which can infect intact skin. With gonorrhea and chlamydia you have vaginal or urethral discharge full of infectious bacteria. None of these diseases requires contact with semen.

In the case of HIV, however, contact with genital secretions is required. Furthermore, the infectious requires mucosal contact--it cannot penetrate intact skin. Finally, the degree of infectivity is dependent on the viral load--the amount of virus in blood and in genital secretions.

have a good nights sleep guys.
