For Switch625 - oral guy again
      #95150 - 04/12/04 10:47 AM

Switch - sorry me again. I was going to take your advice and not test again, but I am buying some term life insurance and a HIV test is required. I am 13 weeks past oral exposure, licking an alcohol shot off a woman's privates. I guess I'm looking for some confidence going into this test and despite all I've read about the slim chance of contracting either HIV or hepatitis via oral, I'm still scared.

Pls give me a boost of confidence either with statistics or sound reasoning. I promise not to bother again.

In order for HIV to infect, the virus needs to attach itself to the cells of your immune system. This is acheived through either direct contact with your mucous membranes or direct contact with your bloodstream.

Since any vaginal fluids present would have been exposed to the air, if the woman was infected, the virus would already have begun to degrade. The adding of alcohol would only further dilute anything there, making it pretty much uninfectious. If your tongue wasn't bleeding from a cut, whatever virus left wouldn't have direct access to your bloodstream. And since you only licked the outside with your tongue, any fluids wouldn't have direct contact with the inside lining of your mouth (a mucous membrane).

So, as I stated earlier, the virus needs DIRECT CONTACT with your mucous membranes or bloodstream to infect. I do not see where that happened in what you described. Since that didn't happen, you really do not have anything to be worried about. Get the test, get your negative result, and get your life insurance.

I think you will be just fine from this encounter. Best of luck to you. Keep me posted!
