Firstly, I tested negative one year ago when I increased my life insurance policy. Now my story. One drunken evening, I had the unfortunate experience of making love to a prostitute that some people had brought to a bachelor party. I used a condom and being drunk I lasted about 30 seconds in her. I removed the condom and it looked fine with no breaks and no leakage. The next morning it hit me what sadistic crime I just committed against my wife and my three young kids. It is something that is not in my nature but I guess I never go out and the first chance I had I got drunk and pretty much had no control. It was extremely difficult to live with the guilt and I decided to be extra nice to wife and kids, and I also prayed I wouldnt get AIDS from this short encounter. ABout three days after I began feeling really funny and weak and at one week I broke out into a sweat, with no fever, felt extremely weak, lost 7 pounds with no appetite, and felt a little dizzy with the chills. Most of these symptoms lasted about 10 days, but the chills, the weakness, dizziness continued for another three weeks. By the fifth weeks, I still felt weak, with chills, and dizzy. Oh yeah, I also noticed after the first week, a rather uniform white coating on my tongue with it being a little thicker at the back, which is still there. At the sixth week, I began having these diffuse chest pains especially around the middle of my chest. I thought I was having some form of pneumonia. That week broke out into a cold, congested, and coughed up green-yellow sputum, which my doctor diagnosed as a bacterial bronchitis, which I am now taking meds for. My doctor said that it was not thrush in my tongue because it doesnt have the characteristics of thrush, plus it is two early for PCP and other opportunistic infections. He also says its hard to rule out HIV and that I should wait and be tested at three month. Based on what I know these symptoms are too long lasting and severe to be part of the acute retroviral stage. My question to everybody is "Is it possible to have severe HIV related symptoms one week following a possible exposure? Does this seem like HIV? Please help and reassure my either way.
