What are the odds?
      #94583 - 04/07/04 06:09 AM

I had unprotected sex with a female and got the horrible virus Herpes from her, she swore she didn't know she had it. A culture test revealed the virus, I have gotten over that fact and have not had a re-occurance since 3 months. She got tested for all STD's after she learned about herpes.
10 weeks out from our date, she was neg for HIV,Hep and Syphilis. What are the chances she was still in a window period and did not show antibodies? Also I was negative on the same tests done 2 weeks before her. Any thoughts? I have spent many sleepless nights reliving my nightmare and regretting my poor desicion to have U/P sex.

You are clear for hep and syphillis, but you need a three month negative result to be clear for HIV. I would suggest HIV testing again for you both at 13 weeks for a definitive result, but both of your current negative results are good indicators.

Stop beating yourself up so much. We all make mistakes, it's what makes us human. The important thing is that we learn from them and move on. It sounds like you have, so both of you go get your conclusive results and then put all of this behind you.

Life is meant for living, not fearing.
