How mild can mild be?
      #91832 - 03/11/04 04:41 PM

When experts claim that ARS symptoms can range from mild to severe, how mild is mild? Does mild ARS still resemble flu or mono, i.e. sudden onset, body ache, fever, swollen lymph nodes, etc. Also what temperature range generally classes as a fever? Has anyone ever experienced the 'mild' form???

There is no right answer to your question. Some people may have some body aches or swollen glands, or they may have a slight fever, they may end up in the hospital, or they may have nothing at all. There is no definitive symptoms of HIV infection, that is why testing is so important.

Doctors do not even diagnose HIV by symptoms alone, a HIV test is needed to make any kind of diagnosis. Why are you concerned over symptoms? Do you feel that you may have put yourself at risk? What was your exposure?

Life is meant for living, not fearing.

Risk was unproected insertive vaginal sex with a girl at a party. She seems sensible enough, she is in her 1st year at Uni, and I have contacted her since about my concerns. She has informed me that she has slept with two others without protection before and they were both boyfriends. I have no reason to doubt this but got sick 3/4 days after with mild symptoms that persisted on and off for 3 or so weeks.

That is too soon for symptoms to occur you are probably fine. If you still seem worried, wait until you are past your 3mo mark and get a conclusive test. Remember symptoms mean nothing, some people get them some don’t. The only way to know for sure is to test at or after three months.
Also, remember HIV is not the only sexually transmitted disease, there are many others. Stress and worry can also make you ill on there own without actual infection of any kind.

some people are not noticing seroconversion at all; other people have to be hospitalized. There is a whole range of possibilities at this level. In any case, the only sure way to know is to get tested at the end of the window period.
