kissing & receiveing oral
      #9122 - 09/02/00 03:18 AM

i just called the CDC hotline on kissing & receiving oral sex. They said there is NO RISK with those activities...they then mentioned that unless there was blood mixed in the saliva there is no risk...

Should i get tested for HIV based on an experience with someone where all we did was kiss and and i received oral sex? i dont recall there being any blood and i dont even think he is positive, but cant stop thinking about this!!

thanks

Get test for it if you are receiving oral sex for other stds too at 3 months than 6 months to make sure. Whether there is noticeable blood or not you will never found out. But I think you should OK with HIV because it is difficult to get. You are 99.99% after 6 months for HIV. I have the same situation and I got herpes and chlamydia which the chlamydia only reactive at 17 weeks and HIV is still -ve. So, don't miss a chance. I have no symptoms at all and always think that I am OK but turn out..... You will infect other people especially your loved one if you have girl friend or wife. I was so regreted..... Just one stupid contact. I hope you all the best and good luck.

To the originator of this thread, disregard whoever posted the comment above about getting tested. No offense to the writer, but he/she has no clue. You're NOT going to get infected from kissing or receiving oral sex. Read all the other posts and you'll see the same answer, even HIV specialist doctors agree. It's concentration is so low in saliva that it's a non-issue. There has never been a documented case in history of receiving HIV from either of these two methods. Believe me, you are not going to be the unlucky 1 out of a million. Giving oral sex, though possible, is also very very unlikely.

regards,
R

thanks so much...the other guy scared me a bit...im new to this and have just started sorting through all the research...i was very scared initially, but have been learning a lot about hiv as i go along.

based on a lot of sites ive been to, they DO NOT recommend testing for these situations...i hope their right! i am married and did a little experimentation along the way...i regret it. but perhaps im avoiding dealing with my real problem...being a gay married man!

thanks and god bless u all!

I know English is not your native language but you REALLY need to take not of what you are saying. The way it sounds, you are suggesting someone to get tested base on exposure to saliva. You are causing people to be worried for NO REASON. I am in Germany and they will tell you that you won't get infected from exposure to saliva. I realize you are trying to help but if you are going to offer advice, please make sure it is the correct advice and not just your own opinion.

I am sorry to cause panic but I just want to offer personal opinion. It is certainly not a professional one. Please believe in your doctor and specialist.
