I was wondering how soon HIV can be passed on to a partner after the point of infection? Is it possible to infect a partner in the first 2-to-3 weeks after contraction , or does it take a few more weeks than that for the virus to show up enough in the system to be passed on ? Thank you, wmd

Yes, in the first 2 to 3 weeks the virus can be passed on.
Why are you concerned about this? Do you think you may have put yourself at risk?

Yes, and if test is positive, may have infected a partner at the exact 2 week point. Could it be transmitted even sooner, say in the first week? I don't mean after a seroconversion, but after actual risk behavior that contracted the virus ? thanks, WmD

Yes you absolutley can transmit the virus early on. In fact that is when the viral loads are the highest. They eventually stabilize out. There is no need to assume to might be infected but until you know, stop having unsafe sex!
