test 39 days, 80d days and 110 days
      #85931 - 02/05/04 11:07 PM

Is testing negative at 39, 80, 110 days conclusive after receptive and insertive (no ejaculation) anal sex with someone who said he was tested and negative after I freaked out on him. I got strep throat 7 days after the episode than after taking 2 different antibiotics got stomach problems all that has cleared up but keep feeling like my lymph nodes are sore. Can I relax with the neg HIV1 tests at 39, 80, and 110 days?

Yes, as long as the tests are FDA approved, your 110 day test is beyond the window period, so you're good to go!

BTW, something that I've learned from Dr.Bob on here--"Symptoms don't equal disease"

Congratulations, use condoms from now on.

Thank you for your reply. Just wondering are you a physician? and do you think these 4 months of stressing could make my neck and shoulders hurt all the time? Its a little better since I got the 110 results but still hurts enough that I have to take some muscle relaxers from time to time. I know I have not let this go yet but I am really trying too. I will add I have written Dr Bob several times and he won't answer me. THANKS AGAIN FOR YOUR ANSWER.

The CDC has revised the window period for conclusive testing to 3 months.

Your test at 100 plus days is conclusive. HIV is not your concern.

Any symptoms you have should be looked at by a physician.

Cheers

Cheers to you two Jazz, and thanks for the post. Why can't I just let this go I am still so worried about this and its almost become an obsession with me. I think if my neck would stop hurting I could let this go also, I still feel like some of my lymph node are sore (but that comes and goes) do you think all this could be in my head?? I am starting to think I am crazy....

Sweetie, there are people who will test negative conclusively, and still have "symptoms". These are psychosomatic. I GUARANTEE that the more you think about it, the more you read about it, the more "symptoms" you will get.

You're fine. You should be out celebrating--- and using condoms. :)

Be well...

Thank you, Sweetpea guess I am just a worry wart, but things like the guy Dr Bob posted today in his forum, that said he tested poz after 4 1/2 months but he didn't say when his exposure was. Things like that make me worry

I know the Dr Bob post you mentioned the only thing I can think of is that he tested for the first time at 4.5 months! Maybe he tested before 3 months !

Thanks for the reply anonymous. So you think I have nothing to worry about since the 110 day test was neg? The only thing I can think of is that stress settled in my neck and its going to take some time to get rid of it and as far as my lymph node being tender is maybe because I think about it alot. I wish Dr Bob would tell me I am good to go, but he has not answered me and I thought maybe he thinks I am poz is why.

rjasin, thank you for your answer. Have you ever heard of anyone(with a normal imune system) testing neg at 3months and poz at 6 months?

Dear Anon:

No I have not.

The average time it takes for healthy foks to seroconvert is 25 days. 3 months is very conservative. It is meant to include "statistical outliers", meaning those who don't have a normal immune function.

I stand fully behind 3 months being conclusive.

Cheers

Jazz
