False Negative
      #84554 - 01/31/04 06:11 PM

Hi, I read somewhere that cortisone can cause false-negatives, well the day I took my HIV test, I had put some hydrocortisone cream on a rash I had earlier that day. Should I be concered that I recieved a false-negative?

A topographical hydrocortisone cream applied the same day HIV testing takes place in no way shape or form affects the accuracy of the test.

Cheers
