Having the test and I'm so scared!!

I finally got enough nerve to order a anoymous testing and I'm having it done sometime this week at a lab. Anyways, I am a nervous reck and scared. I haven't had any symptoms of ARS (i think that's what it is), but it seems like everytime I turn on the TV something that has to do with AIDS or HIV..everytime I open a book or magazine..it falls on a page concerning HIV and I am just scared and a nervous reck. Does the test hurt that bad?? I'm having blood drawn.

Dear Anon:
No, the test does not hurt. Furthemore, you can decide to take an OraQuick test which is FDA approved and does not require blood to be drawn.

I just had the test done on the 16th after a risky encounter. It doesn't hurt at all. I HATE NEEDLES (a phobia of mine), but it didn't bother me at all. The key is not to watch. I think it's great you want to get tested though. If you did happen to have something, you could keep yourself healthier and whatever partners you may have. I'm sure you're fine though. Relax and don't sweat the small stuff. Take care.
