94 days test result
      #8092 - 08/08/00 08:12 AM

Dear all, I just get a result back, negative, for a 94 days test ( hiv I and II ). Hopefully, it is ok and I will move on. Unfortunately, I got herpes I and borderline II, I don't understand the result but it is better than hiv. And I have experience NO herpes symdroms at all. Doctor said it may be due to the amonut of virus is so low and will be latent like this for while. I will test again in one month and confirm whether it could be false positive.
Any input is welcome and thanks for all share experiences in the forum and hope everyone is negative.
thanks

I dont want to come off like an expert on things, but my paranoia has caused me to do a lot of late night internet research, and I've spent way too much time discussing stuff with my docs that I end up not having.

The test they use for Herpes at most labs CAN differentiate between Herpes 1 (most everyone gets exposed to this, its the one that causes cold sores or the occasional canker sore in the mouth) and Herpes 2 (typically called Genital Herpes). The problem is, the viral strands are very similar. So, if Herpes 1 is a definite, the Herpes 2 test likely will pick up some of the antibodies for Herpes 1 and recount them again. Thats why the lab report will usually advise you that there could be some double counting of antibodies. To be conclusive about whether you have one, the other, or both - and whether it is a "primary" or first-time infection or a latent and stable viral count requires a second test and reverification.

At least you can put hiv behind you. I know a lot of people who live with herpes in one form or another and it does not interfere in the least with their lives.

thanks for reply. I will re-test the herpes case in one month time. My doc said it may contract longtime ago since the reading is only 1.22 and just positive for type I. for tpye II is 0.94 and I don't have any sign at all. So I hope it is a false positive. good luck to me.
Again, best wishes for everybody.
