hiv is detected by a blood or saliva test not a pap test.
pap tests can appear to be abnormal if you had the test right after your period when the cells of the cervic are renewing after you period. the best readings are done at midcycle. pap tests can pick up hpv - genital warts. it doesnt pick up hiv or at least last i heard. please follow up on the pap.
i had an abnormal pap that after several tests, poking, scrapping and proding, turned out to be a big nothing - just a big scare for no reason but i followed thru on all testing and so should you.

pap smears have nothing to do with HIV. an abnormal pap is not that big of a deal, most women will have one at one time. She will need to get some follow up treatment to determine how severe it is, and probably get another pap in a few months. All it means is that some abnormal cells were found. Probably a form of HPV.
