Pimple-looking spots on hands
      #68876 - 08/07/03 07:01 PM

Hey everybody. I recently had oral sex performed on me and now it tingles to urinate and my hands have pimple looking dots on them. They seem to dry up quickly and flake off. What is this? Is this symptom (hands) a sign of ARS?

No, it doesn't sound like ARS. Since the activity you engaged in is one that there are no confirmed cases of infection I would say HIV isn't your problem.

However, there are other STD's around. If it tingles when you urinate, it's something a doctor should check out.

Was the oral sex protected or unprotected? Any symptom you may have will have nothing to do with HIV. Saliva does not transmit HIV, so receiving oral sex is not a risk for that. There are other STI's that are much easier to contract which is why I asked if it was protected or unprotected.

In receiving unprotected oral sex, you could be at risk for herpes, syphillis, and gonnorhea. The tingling urination doesn't sound like anything troublesome, but I'm not a doctor.

The tip of your penis would have to come into contact with the back of the other person's throat to put you at risk for gonorrhea.

If the person had no sores on their mouth then you are probably safe from herpes. While it is possible to transmit herpes from mouth to genitals, it's rare. Of all the people with oral herpes, only 0.1% of them will have the HSV-2 (genital herpes) virus. Yes, HSV-1 (cold sores) can cause genital herpes, but it's rare and there has to be a sore present to transmit. HSV-2 can infect even if a sore is not present, but that is for only 2-3 days out of every year. So the odds are in your favor for not contracting herpes.

With syphillis, if you have no sores appear on your penis or have no discharge after 10 days-you are fine. The first symptoms of syphillis will appear in 10 days or less. Syphillis is not asymptomatic.

The pimple dots on your hands have nothing to do with HIV or any other STI.
